President Joe Biden is the most pro-worker, pro-union President in our lifetime. His legacy will be defined by the creation of millions of good jobs, critically-needed infrastructure investments and the appointment of true worker rights champions to the Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board.

Today, AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler and other labor leaders will rally convention delegates to the critical importance of electing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to build on our progress and empower workers for generations to come.

Talking Points:

  • The Biden-Harris administration had our backs every step of the way: 15 million new jobs, billions in investments to rebuild our nation's crumbling infrastructure and jump start clean energy projects, strengthening our ability to organize, bringing manufacturing back home to America and saving our pensions.
  • The Investing in America agenda wins have also impacted healthcare in our country. 65.4 million seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries will save money on prescription drug costs because of the Biden-Harris Administration’s $2,000 yearly cap on out-of-pocket prescription drugs, the $35 monthly cap on the cost of insulin and by allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices.
  • Under President Biden, the White House made game-changing appointments to critical federal agencies and departments, bringing in leaders who are committed to fighting for working people.
    • The Department of Labor’s final rule to extend overtime protections to more low-paid salary workers puts more money in the pockets of working families. Additionally, the proposed heat safety rule would protect approximately 36 million workers from the risks of extreme heat exposure, the number one cause of weather-related deaths in the U.S.
    • The National Labor Relations Board has reported that union election petitions are up 30% in 2024 and workers are voting to join unions at the highest rate in 15 years thanks to NLRB decisions like in Cemex Construction Materials Pacific, LLC which strengthened the agency’s framework for policing labor law violations ahead of elections.
